Bombing of an armed cell in Tammun, south of Tubas. |
The Israeli army stated in an official announcement that an air force drone targeted an armed cell in the town of Tammun, south of Tubas, in the northeastern West Bank.
Following the army’s statement, Israeli media outlets adopted the narrative without verification. Meanwhile, some Arab and Palestinian platforms reported the information provided by the Israeli army but identified the three martyrs as siblings. Their bodies are being held by Israeli authorities at the time of this report’s preparation.
The Palestinian Observatory “Tahaqaq” debunks the Israeli army’s claims regarding the assassination of an armed Palestinian cell in Tammun, as well as the false information surrounding the three martyrs. This conclusion was reached after contacting Youssef Bsharat, the cousin of the martyrs, who told “Tahaqaq” that the Israeli allegations were untrue. He confirmed that the martyrs were civilian cousins from the Bsharat family, not siblings, and that they were in the courtyard of their home during the attack, despite their house being geographically distant from the site of the Israeli incursion and home raids in the town.
Youssef added that 10-year-old Hamza Bsharat was born after eight years of waiting, while 8-year-old Reda Bsharat, his family’s only son, was born after 13 years. He also confirmed to “Tahaqaq” that 23-year-old Adam Bsharat had returned from performing Umrah just two days before his death, which indicates he was not wanted by Israeli forces; otherwise, he would have been arrested at the Karama Crossing upon his return.
This was also corroborated by journalist Ameer Shaheen, the Palestine TV correspondent in Tubas, who confirmed to “Tahaqaq” that Adam was not wanted and had indeed returned from Umrah two days prior. Shaheen emphasized that the martyrs were in the courtyard of their home and posed no threat to the presence of Israeli forces in the town.
Following the preparation of this report, the Israeli army announced the initiation of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding a morning airstrike on a vehicle in the village of Tammun in the northern West Bank. The strike resulted in the martyrdom of a Palestinian young man and two children, amid rising tensions in the area.
Journalist Ameer Shaheen reported that the Israeli authorities have handed over the bodies of the three martyrs, which were subsequently transferred to the hospital for medical examination.
Israeli Military Operation in Nablus and Tubas Results in Six Martyrs
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday the martyrdom of Abdul Rahman Bani Odeh (24) due to injuries sustained during an Israeli airstrike on the town of Tammun, south of Tubas, on Tuesday. The Israeli forces have withheld his body.
The ministry also confirmed the martyrdom of two children and a young man as a result of an Israeli drone strike targeting the courtyard of a house in Tammun. The victims, as confirmed by their family to “Tahaqaq,” were cousins: Reda Ali Bsharat (8), his family’s only son; Hamza Ammar Bsharat (10), also his family’s only son; and Adam Khair Al-Din Bsharat (23).
Additionally, Abdul Rahman Bani Odeh (24) and Suleiman Mustafa Qutaishat (18) were killed in a similar drone strike on Tuesday. Meanwhile, an Israeli military unit assassinated former prisoner Jafar Dababseh (40) in front of his home in Al-Badhan, east of Nablus.
These incidents occurred amidst an ongoing military operation launched by the Israeli army in the early hours of Tuesday, January 7, targeting Al-Far’a Refugee Camp and the town of Tammun. Israeli forces entered Tammun with several military vehicles accompanied by a bulldozer, raiding Palestinian homes and arresting five residents.
Simultaneously, the Israeli army stormed Al-Far’a Refugee Camp, sparking clashes with Palestinian fighters. Local sources reported that the army used live ammunition and tear gas, causing several injuries. Additionally, the forces damaged infrastructure and private property.
These developments are part of a broader military campaign by Israel in various parts of the West Bank, aimed at what it describes as dismantling the infrastructure of Palestinian resistance. The operations have significantly worsened the humanitarian situation, exacerbating the suffering of residents in the targeted areas.
The result |
The fact-checking conducted by “Tahaqaq” disproved the Israeli army’s claims regarding the assassination of an armed cell in Tammun, south of Tubas. Instead, the victims were three civilians from the Bsharat family, including two children, who were in their home’s courtyard, far from the geographical location of the military operation. This was confirmed to “Tahaqaq” by a cousin of the three martyrs, who also denied that Adam, one of the victims, was wanted by the Israeli forces, as he had returned from performing Umrah only two days before his death. |
