The claim

The Oscar winners, beyond their fake representation, act brutally and attack Israeli army soldiers.

Foreign accounts and pro-Israel supporters on social media have posted videos claiming that “the Oscar winners, beyond their fake representation, act brutally and attack occupation army soldiers.”

The Palestinian observatory “Tahaqaq” verified the authenticity of the video and the claim attached to it by contacting Palestinian activists Sami Huraini and Basel Athara. Athara confirmed that the claim is misleading, explaining that the video actually documents a settler attack on Khirbet Tuba in Masafer Yatta in 2023.

Huraini pointed out that the videographer was a settler named Tomer, while Israeli director Yuval Abraham was shouting at the settler who was filming the moment of the attack.

For his part, Palestinian activist Basel Adra, one of the participants in the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land, confirmed that the claim is misleading. He also provided the observatory with another video showing the attack from a different angle, further supporting the fact that the original footage documents a settler attack on Khirbet Tuba in Masafer Yatta in 2023.

“The circulation of the allegation coincides with the documentary No Other Land winning the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in 2025. The film tells the story of the suffering of Palestinians in the village of Masafer Yatta in the West Bank and documents the demolition operations carried out by the Israeli army. The film was produced in collaboration between Palestinian activist Basel Adra and Israeli director Yuval Abraham.”

The result
Tahaqqaq’s verification confirmed that the claim is false. Palestinian activist Sami Huraini clarified that the video documents a settler attack on Khirbet Tuba in Masafer Yatta in 2023, not an assault by the filmmakers on occupation soldiers. This is further supported by another video that documented the incident from a different angle, proving that the claim is misleading.
