The image shows a Syrian child who was rescued following the bombing by the Syrian regime in Aleppo in 2016

 The claim is that an Israeli journalist, Eddie Cohen, commented on the image, saying, “How many times have they saved this girl… Lies of the Palestinian Daesh [ISIS]”.

The Palestinian fact-checking organization “Tahqaq” looked into the validity of this claim, and found out that the image is old and belongs to a Syrian child who was rescued after a regime airstrike on a civilian gathering in the Al-Maadi neighborhood in Aleppo on August 27, 2016. At the time, this image was circulated as part of a campaign to cast doubt on the actions of the White Helmets, a volunteer civil defense organization in Syria. The White Helmets were accused of staging rescue operations and fabricating images of victims in conflict zones.

The fact-checking website “Snopes” also investigated the claim when CNN was accused of using the same girl’s image to illustrate three separate reports on Syrian refugee crises in different locations. 

Snopes found that the images indeed featured the same Syrian girl, and while the pictures were taken in the same location, they were not from different places.

In summary, the image is old and dates back to the Syrian conflict in 2016, and it was used in a campaign to raise doubts about the actions of the White Helmets in Syria. The claim that the image was linked to a recent event or a different location is not accurate.
